All of us have body hair preferences, both for our own body and our partner’s. You may think chest hair is great but don’t want even a bit of peach fuzz on your back. Maybe you prefer your arms as is and your legs swimmer-smooth.
Then there are the pubes. You should be giving your nether regions just as much love as you give to any other part of your body. Choose your weapon
If you have to ponder when you last switched your razor blade, it’s been way too long. It’s important to keep your tools clean and fresh so you avoid any irritation or, worse, infection. When it comes to more sensitive skin around your pubic hair and testicles, a dull, dirty blade on a razor or clippers is your worst enemy. No matter what tool you’re using, take the time to ensure it’s in top shape before it ever touches your skin.
Lather up
Shave gel. Aftershave balm. Ingrown hair and irritation oils. Buy one or, better yet, buy all of them and thank yourself. Your skin is sensitive and needs a little extra armor to defend against regular grooming. A generous amount of shaving gel should always be part of your routine, but consider adding aftershave balms and oils, too. It takes all of 30 seconds to show your skin some love after a grooming session, and with so many products on the market, you’re sure to find one that specifically prevents irritation to your skin.
Take it slow
Gentle, slow strokes may not get every job done, but when it comes to shaving and trimming your pubes, it’s the only way to go. Don’t hack away at your skin in an effort to get it done quickly. Take the time to do it right, and that way you’ll avoid cuts, razor burn and irritation. A lot of bacteria congregate around your genitals, and the stronger and healthier your skin is, the less chance there is of infection. Don’t compromise with a cockeyed shave job. Pull your skin taut and work slowly and lightly.
